Chest wrinkles and how to prevent them
Wrinkles. Some creep up on you, slowly etching their way into your skin, for others, it’s as if you wake up one morning and all of a sudden they’ve appeared seemingly overnight.
We all know faces are prone to developing wrinkles, but wrinkles don’t just appear on your face, they’ll settle in just about anywhere! Apart from your face and hands, what is the next most exposed area of skin on your body? For many people, women especially, it is the décolletage.
Chest wrinkles may start out faint, small and barely noticeable but give them time and you may be stuck with some deep, vertical, crinkly lines that make you think twice about wearing that low cut dress. No. Thank. You.
Luckily, there are some quick and simple preventative steps you can take to keep these unwanted lines from ruining your fun!
1. Protect your skin from the sun.
Protect your skin from sun damage by wearing a top with a higher neck or wrapping a light shawl or something similar over your chest and shoulders when out in the sun. We all know to apply sunscreen to our faces, but many of us neglect to also apply some to our chest and neck. The chest is often more directly exposed to sunlight than the face and deserves some attention.
2. Cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise
Extend your daily facial routine to include your chest. This process will help to refresh, replenish and rejuvenate the skin.
3. Think twice about perfume
Many common perfumes contain chemicals that can dry out and irritate the skin, and even make the skin more susceptible to sun damage. Avoid applying perfume to the neck and chest; apply a spritz to your wrists instead.
4. Avoid sleeping on your side
Sleeping on your side is a leading cause of chest wrinkles as the skin is compressed and crinkled as you sleep. If possible, try to alter your sleeping position to minimise this (or purchase a custom made breast pillow to keep them in place!)
5. If you already have some well settled chest wrinkles do not despair! A consultation with the staff at Rejuva will determine the right décolletage rejuvenation treatment for you.
Perhaps it will be a lactic acid peel, which helps to both resurface and rehydrate the effected area, or perhaps a filler, microdermabrasion or skin rejuvenation therapy would be more suited to your needs.
